Feedback for the Department Head

Mostafa Khattab

Dear CM Students:

Welcome to the 2016-17 school year! The Department of Construction Management faculty and staff are looking forward to a great year working with you in the classrooms, the student clubs, team competitions, CM Cares, and at our special events.

In the Student Exit Survey for the Spring 2016 graduating seniors, students were asked to respond to a series of questions to highlight areas of strength as well as areas for improvement in our program. I would like to share with you the responses to the following two key statements:

  • "I received an excellent education that I am proud of": 93% agree
  • "Faculty and instructors for construction courses were knowledgeable about their course material": 75% agree

Our team's achievements are truly a reflection of our department values and commitment to excellence. The CM program's core values are:

  • Provide the highest quality construction management education
  • Make a positive difference in the lives of students
  • Be a part of something larger than our individual selves
  • Exhibit professionalism
  • Care for our environment

These core values are best demonstrated by the dedication and passion of the students, faculty, staff, and industry partners working on advancing construction education at CSU. Now, no program is perfect and in order for us as a team to build an exceptional program, I need your help and engagement. I would like to provide you with an opportunity to provide direct feedback to me about your experiences in our program. You might consider recognizing specific faculty and staff for their commitment to your education and/or identifying areas for improvement in the program. In order for me to follow-up with you, I will need your contact information. Please be assured that I will keep such information confidential to the best of my ability.

I would also like to encourage you to be involved. This is your education, your future, and we are happy to play a small part of your lifelong journey to learn, lead, and make a difference in the future of our industry, our country, and the world. You are our ambassadors and the future leaders of our industry.

Finally, I want to once again reflect on one of our department's values: "Be a part of something larger than our individual selves." Coach John Wooden once said, "You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you." Your success in life and in your career will be fueled by the impact you make in other people's lives.

I look forward to hearing from you. Have a fantastic year!
