Career Fair Information for Industry

The Department of Construction Management's Career Fair is an excellent way for students to “preview” your company while giving you the opportunity to get acquainted with them before the busy recruiting events begin. This event is advertised to CM, Business, Engineering, and Interior Design majors seeking full-time employment and internship opportunities.

The Spring Career Fair on February 20th is now SOLD OUT. If you would like to be placed on the waiting list, please email the following information to Conferences@ColoState.edu: Company name, contact name, email address, and phone.

  • Graduate resume link will be available to recruiters the week prior to the fair
  • A limited number of interview rooms are available on campus beginning the day after the fair. The week of the fair is reserved for out-of-state recruiters, then PADB Platinum Members only

  • NOTE: Employer information sessions and recruiting events may not be scheduled until the week following the career fair. Also note that the first week is reserved for PADB Platinum members only.

Booth Options and Fees

Register before the December 31st Early Bird cut-off and save $50! (already discounted booths excluded)

Premium Booth Package ($1,000):
($500 for PADB Platinum; $750 for PADB Gold)

Standard Booth Package ($600):
($400 for Small Business/Gov't; Complimentary for PADB Platinum; $300 for PADB Gold)

  • One 6' table with two chairs
  • Two breakfast, lunch, and happy hour drink vouchers
  • Wireless internet connection
  • Company profile in Career Fair Program (printed and online)
  • Additional services/options available that are not included in the standard booth registration are the program advertisement, electricity, package handling/storage, and additional meal vouchers
  • Small Business/Government rate is reserved for independently owned and operated small businesses (50 or fewer employees), 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, and Federal, State, County, or City agencies only

Program Advertising Specifications

If your organization registered for a premium booth or added an advertisement to your standard booth registration, please forward your ad as a jpeg image to anna.fontana@colostate.edu at least three weeks prior to the fair.

Half-page advertisement ($250): 5" wide x 3.75" tall
Full-page advertisement ($500): 5" wide x 8" tall

Location and Lodging

Hilton Fort Collins, 425 W. Prospect Road. Located conveniently just south of campus on the corner of Prospect and Center Avenue.

A block of rooms has been reserved. Be sure to mention that you are attending the CSU Construction Management Career Fair to receive the special rate. We encourage you to make reservations at your earliest convenience as the group rate is only available through the end of January or until the block is full.

Schedule of Events

8:30-10:00am - Set-up and breakfast
10:00-3:00pm - Booths Open
12:00-2:00pm - Lunch (Career Fair will remain open during lunch)
3:00-4:00pm - Pack up
3:15-5:30pm - Happy Hour and Raffle

Student/Industry Dinners

The CM Department encourages recruiters to participate in the Student/Industry Dinner on the evening of the Career Fair. This is a great opportunity to better connect with students in a relaxed setting. Each company coordinates directly with students and makes arrangements with the restaurant of their choice.

Cancellations

Refunds, less a $50 administration fee, will be permitted for written cancellation requests received by Conference and Event Services at least two weeks prior to the fair.

Due to the nature of banquet events and guaranteeing numbers, refunds will not be given for cancellations within two weeks of the fair. This is also true for day-of weather related difficulties. Once numbers are confirmed, the department is responsible for meals and booth set-up whether they are used or not. Thank you for your understanding.

Employer Code of Conduct for Recruiting

The Department of Construction Management follows the University Career Center and National Association of Colleges and Employers Principles for Professional Conduct in Student Hiring. Please be aware of the following guidelines when recruiting our students:

Extending Offers
We ask that employers convey decisions to candidates within a reasonable time frame and communicate that time frame to candidates. As a general rule, employers should give students a minimum of two weeks from the date the offer is made to make their decision, ideally within the semester of graduation. Please give students a minimum of two-weeks to respond to offers.

Exploding Offers
Exploding offers (offers that do not afford the candidate the appropriate time to either accept or decline) are unacceptable. Employers are to refrain from exerting any undue pressure on candidates to accept an offer.

Rescinded Offers
If conditions change and require your company to rescind an offer made to a student, we ask that you contact the CM Placement Office prior to taking any action. If after discussions with the Placement Office, the offer is rescinded, we ask that you pursue a course of action for the affected candidate that is fair and equitable, including (but not limited to) financial assistance and outplacement services.

Student Reneges
Employers should not try to persuade students to renege on employment offers from other companies under any circumstances. This would be in direct breach of the university recruiter code of conduct and ethics. Students who renege face serious consequences limiting or revoking their access to career services.

Companies who violate these guidelines, may face penalties including being barred from further recruiting activities. The department asks for your support as we prepare our graduates for a professional career in the construction industry.

Third Party Recruiting Agencies

The CM Phelps Placement Office, in accordance with the CSU Career Center and the Collegiate Career Services Association of Colorado and Wyoming (CCSA) uses the National Association of Colleges and Employers' definition of third-party recruiters as "...agencies, organizations, or individuals recruiting candidates for temporary, part-time or full-time employment opportunities other than for their own needs. This includes entities that refer or recruit for profit or not for profit, and it includes agencies that collect student information to be disclosed to employers for purposes of recruitment and employment."

Staffing agencies and third party recruiters are not permitted to recruit on-campus through the CM Department at this time. This includes the career fair, info sessions, on-campus interviews, and other on-campus recruiting events hosted by Construction Management.

Staffing agencies and third-party recruiters are permitted to post position announcements to our on-line job board, provided they adhere to our Job Announcement Guidelines and submit only current valid openings which disclose the employer and specific position within the posting.

Network Marketing Organizations, as defined by the CSU Career Center, are not permitted to recruit on-campus through the CM Department. This includes the career fair, info sessions, on-campus interviews, and other on-campus recruiting events.

Employers are not permitted to recruit Construction Management intern or work experience candidates for commission or sales positions.

Note: Member institutions of CCSA often share information with one another regarding their relationships and experiences with third-party agencies and, at the discretion of individual career offices, other conditions of the agreement may apply.
