Over the last year, I have had the opportunity to better know the partners and people who are helping to shape the direction of our CM program and support our graduates. In March, I attended the MCAA convention and heard from multiple external partners that our program is highly regarded by other programs and universities across the country. I also saw first-hand how our students are involved at the national level with student competitions, as well as making important connections with industry contacts.
The uniqueness of our program and its strong ties to industry and the community is best exemplified by our CM Cares program - the only program of its kind in the nation. For the last three years, with the support of many industry donors, students in this program have made an incredible impact on the community, often helping to improve accessibility challenges for people with disabilities.
One of our young alumni, Jordan Heberlein Trevino (’11), who also serves on the College’s Emerging Leaders Council, reflected on her CSU experience, saying that her mentor, Mostafa Khattab, left an impact on her that she’s eternally grateful for. She said, “Two lessons he taught me that I will never forget were to never stop learning and to always give back with a heart for charity.” This message of giving back is fostered throughout the CM program, and is one of the reasons the program has been developing great leaders for years.
I’m proud of our CM program and its many past, present, and future leaders who are undoubtedly building a better world and improving the quality of life for all of us in the communities in which we live, learn, work, and play.
